Atlassian Summit Logo

The big annual user conference of the Australian Software developer of JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket Server & Co, the Atlassian Summit 2015 was kicked off in San Francisco after a training day yesterday and exchanges with Atlassian Partners on Monday. We would like to share with you the most important news and announcements from the keynote by Atlassian co founders and CEOs Scott Farquhar and Mike Cannon-Brookes.

Mobile apps for Confluence and JIRA on their way

A productive use of Confluence and JIRA on mobile devices has moved to number four of requirements by Atlassian customers. Native mobile apps for both systems that seamlessly integrate into each other were announced during the keynote. As of today, these apps will be able to interact with Confluence and JIRA instances in the Cloud. We are hoping for solutions for server hosted versions. The apps for Confluence and JIRA are in the beta stage and customers can sign up to participate in the testing phase.

HipChat Connect

HipChat is now Atlassians mightiest Connect programming interface. It now meets allows integration of various third party applications in HipChat – not merely as source for notifications, but as interactive elements. Actions can be initiated straight out of HipChat. The integrations are placed in a sidebar and can be moved to the chat via drag & drop for interaction. Relevant information for the team flows together in HipChat, reducing the noise of notifications. This short video shows the opportunities of the API:

Dedicated Performance teams for every product

For some time now, Atlassian has been focusing on speed of their tools. Now there is a dedicated team for each product, working on increasing their performance. Page loading and response times have been reduced by 50 percent for JIRA and Confluence within one year. The aim is to continue in this direction.

Further news

  • New (and pretty) mobile apps for HipChat (iOs and Android) were announced
  • The sidebar navigation that is known from new versions of the JIRA product family is now part of Atlassian design guidelines and will be realized for all Atlassian tools as main navigation option

These are the first news. Stay tuned for more news.
