draw.io diagramming in Confluence is currently the most successful app in the Atlassian Marketplace

Atlassian's software products traditionally invite integration: Confluence, Jira and many other software products released by Atlassian are all equipped with APIs that allow third-parties to develop plug-ins (called apps in the Atlassian ecosystem) to extend the software to cover additional use cases. Many third-party developers make extensive use of the possibilities the open APIs offer.

The Atlassian Marketplace offers an incredible variety of third-party app solutions covering all of the use cases that you could possibly imagine. The apps available range from small focused solutions that add or change individual features to large, feature-rich muti-app suites that comprehensively expand a system.

Our friends over at Blended Perspectives have recently done a detailed analysis on the data available for Atlassian Marketplace apps, and have unearthed something that we personally find fantastic and want to share with you. 🙂

draw.io is leading the way!

According to their extensive analysis, draw.io is currently the most successful paid app for Confluence on the Atlassian Marketplace! This diagramming solution, which we develop together with JGraph, has been a great success story in recent years and has seen a rapid rise in popularity.

Below is an excerpt from Blended Perspectives' blog article showing you an up-to-date overview of the most successful paid Marketplace apps.

Diagramming is a core use case

One remarkable finding from this analysis: Three of the top ten apps in the Marketplace are diagramming solutions: draw.io, Gliffy and Lucidchart (note: not only among the top ten apps for Confluence, but all of the Atlassian Marketplace apps, regardless of platform). This makes it clear that diagramming is most important for companies.

An integrated diagramming solution in Confluence like draw.io not only gives employees and teams all the functionality they expect from traditional desktop applications like Visio, but lets everyone easily create diagrams, graphs, and other visualizations and collaborate on them with everyone else in their organization. It also offers several other key benefits:

  • Seamless, integrated versioning for diagrams giving reliable auditability
  • All the benefits from collaborative development of diagrams and high quality results, fast.
  • The central search feature of Confluence that also finds the most relevant diagrams based on both their titles and the text content in those diagrams.
  • Import options for existing diagram files in all of the common formats, and a wide range of export options.
  • Reduced costs compared to purchasing traditional proprietary solutions.
