Since the last Linchpin update, we've been working hard to bring you new features and improvements for Linchpin. We are pleased to announce that Linchpin Intranet Suite 5.0 is now available for download in the Atlassian Marketplace. The new version includes improvements and optimizations to previous functions as well as new features. You'll also be glad to hear that we've also made strides with Linchpin Cloud!
The new date field
What may seem small at first has a big impact! The new date field doesn't just create a new entry for user profiles in Linchpin, it paves the way for entirely new use cases in the social intranet. With the date field, you can display lists of new employees or see who will be celebrating a birthday soon. The date field can also be queried for the onboarding process to ensure profiles are optimally filled out.
Area-specific menu
The customizable menu has long been one of Linchpin's core features, and now, we've extended that. You can now define specific menu items and display them according to the current user area. Not only does this trim down the main navigation, but this also allows you to quickly find the pages you need.
New list view in the user directory
This feature was conceived over a year ago, and we are happy to announce that we have finally brought the list view to the area directory too. This gives you much more information at a glance, and it can be freely configured via the administration area. Many new use cases, such as a phone book, can now be displayed in the area directory.
Author teams
Linchpin News is also something we've continued to work on for this release. From now on, teams of authors can be involved in a news item's creation and approval process. Through the newly created category - permissions - teams of authors can work together on a news item and edit it. This allows for planning, creating, and publishing news in your Linchpin Intranet (similar to the editorial teams.)
Filter news more efficiently
Better filtering options in the news portal will ensure that the news portal can also be filtered by category. Many users are probably already familiar with this from other places in Linchpin. News that you subscribe to can also be displayed by category. This makes the list of relevant news areas much clearer, and users can find their way around more easily.
Structure charts: Macro and links via free text fields
We have added many features for the org charts and structure diagrams with past updates, but there were still two requirements that were still open that we really wanted to implement. Firstly, we wanted the ability to include structure charts as macros in pages. Secondly, we wanted to allow structure charts to be based on free-text fields. This is especially for those of you who want to import your profile information from external user directories. We delivered both features with version 5.0.
Linchpin Mobile Improvements
We have also made further improvements to the mobile version of Linchpin. This applies in particular to the display of news and events in Linchpin Mobile on tablet devices. Also, the app is now compatible with the multimedia macro. This means that podcasts and videos embedded in intranet content can be played on the go.
