Linchpin Hey 2.35 – The Final Countdown

As Nelly Furtado once sang: All good things come to an end. Don't be sad, that's just the nature of things, especially in an Agile environment such as ours. And such is the case for Linchpin Hey as well.

To some of you, this news may be coming quite suddenly. After all, we just started a blog article series about all the Linchpin Hey features, and then… nothing. And now this. Well, in the middle of writing the above-mentioned series of articles, it turned out that Atlassian's new product, Atlas (previously known as 'Team Central'), which was announced during Atlassian Team 2022, overlapped so much with the functionality and vision behind Linchpin Hey that we have decided not to develop it further. This doesn't mean, however, that we're pulling the plug completely.

Linchpin Hey final countdown - not pulling plug

As we'll still be using Linchpin Hey internally, we will continue to let Hey live. If you already have a workspace, you can continue to use it - there is no date when Hey will be shut down. But one thing that changes, is that we won't develop it further.

Some of the resources that were developed for Linchpin Hey will now be used to create new Apps that will improve collaboration and togetherness in the Atlassian Cloud. We started with these apps: Linchpin Enterprise News, Language Manager, Navigation Menus - quick & easy orientation and Linchpin User Profiles. If you want to read more about these, you can find the related blog articles here.

However, we have come up with a treat to finish on a high note. We couldn't stop development without adding one of the, if not the most requested features: the Topics feature. This feature will structure your post timeline, only showing the topics you subscribe to. It lets you create new topics, subscribe to existing ones, add topics to your own posts and create some order and structure in the many posts that you may see every day.
