Women Empowerment in a Nutshell: Women in Tech Night ’23!

Women in Tech Night '23

"We Can Do IT!" was the motto of the Women in Tech Night '23, which we hosted together with our partner, KEGON, on March 16th. (This is the second time we’ve held this event. It was first held last year, and after a successful event, it was clear we needed another round! - At our headquarters in Wiesbaden). After a welcome cocktail and a little get-to-know-you game, our moderators, Franzi and Lara, led us through the program. (Similar to last year except for the color of their blazers which represents the color scheme of this year’s event logo 😉)

More than 35 speakers in 16 sessions addressed the challenges and opportunities of women-led individuals in the IT industry. Many reported quite openly and emotionally on their own experiences. In this article, we will provide an overview of the overall event and let you know how the Women in Tech Night will continue next year.

The second round is twice as big!

Ada Lovelace, Grace Hopper, Hedy Lamarr

We are delighted that we were able to build on the success of the first edition of WiTN and that the number of participants more than doubled this time around:  Sadly, we could only accommodate 80 attendees at our Seibert Media Headquarters, but a total of 166 people took part on-site this year. In addition, several individuals watched our YouTube live stream of the Mainstage.

However, there was not only an exciting program on the Mainstage - but also in our Ada Lovelace, Hedy Lamarr, and Grace Hopper rooms. Participants were able to attend personal lectures and interactive workshops. (These three important women created important milestones in IT).

Diversity of topics for career starters and IT industry experts

As diverse as our participants and speakers were, so were the topics in each session. Whether it was gender-equal working environments, personal career paths, women in data, women role models, women in leadership positions, or vulnerability in everyday working life - there was an interesting topic for everyone.  There was something for everyone, with content aimed at newcomers to the professional world, at oldtimers in the IT industry or at tech enthusiasts in general. Take a look at the agenda of this year's WiTN.

However, we would like to highlight two special highlights of the event: First, Esther Gons inspired us with her keynote, "Serendipity and trying new things; my journey into the world of tech, startups, and innovation," in which she humorously and emotionally shared insights into her professional career to date.

Keynote: Esther Gons

On the other hand, a new format celebrated its premiere at WiTN '23: In a panel, Luisa Wagner, Simone Dogu, Gülüm Basak, and Svenja Suhre discussed the topic of women and networks together with our colleague Franzi. Our participants were able to try out the tips they had learned on-site and network and exchange ideas with others over some delicious food.

In the feedback we have received from you so far, it was often mentioned that you particularly value the mix of lectures and workshops as well as the emotionality and openness of the speakers. We feel the same way and are pleased that our concept was so well received by you!

Will the event take place again in 2024?

You might already know the answer to this question... 😉 After the great interest and feedback on the last two Women in Tech Nights. The event will, of course, take place again next year! So it's best to mark March 14, 2024, in your calendar now: We'd love to have you at WiTN '24 next year - either as a speaker or visitor! Who is actually behind the Women in Tech Night?

The organization team of the Women in Tech Night consists of very different people who work at Seibert Media and KEGON. In addition to our two event managers, Kerstin and Jessica, consultants, marketeers, IT specialists, human resources staff, partner management, the video crew, and parts of the top management is also involved in the planning and implementation of the WiTN - not to mention the large number of volunteers on the day of the event itself. With this in mind: See you next year - at the Women in Tech Night 2024!
