From June 8th to June 11th, 2023, Seibert Media organized its annual charity run that spanned across different locations in Germany, Austria, the United States and Canada. Driven by a shared spirit of philanthropy, Seibert Media's employees, alongside their families, friends, and even furry companions, united in an incredible effort to raise funds and make a positive impact in the community. This extraordinary event showcased the power of collective action and served as a shining example of how determination, compassion, and a love (even dislike or hate) for running can contribute to a noble cause.
Our colleagues Maximilian and Harald hiked 5.2 km (3.2 miles) in Rotenfels, located a little west of Bad Münster am Stein. The Rotenfels is ideal for hikers as it has multiple trails that follow the edge of the mountain.
A Run for a Greater Cause
Seibert Media's charity run was not just an opportunity for our colleagues to lace up their running or hiking shoes; it was an opportunity to make a difference. With a commitment to donate 15 euros for each participant, Seibert Media aimed to raise funds for Bärenherz, a children’s hospice in Wiesbaden. The Bärenherz hospice is a remarkable organisation that provides invaluable support and holistic care for children with life-limiting illnesses. Their compassionate services aim to enhance the quality of life, alleviate suffering, and offer comfort during challenging times.
Our colleague Nils hiked 25 km (15 miles) Along the Rheinsteig hiking trail, near the Upper Middle Rhine Valley that connects the pretty towns of Sankt Goarshausen and Kaub.
Our colleague Peter and his brother, Christof, hiked 10.2 km (6.2 miles) around Rauenthal, a well-known wine region.
A Multitude of Paths
One of the most remarkable aspects of Seibert Media's charity run was the diversity and freedom in how individuals decided to participate. Some employees chose to conquer the kilometers (miles) on their own, enjoying the solitude and personal challenge. Others opted to bring their loyal four-legged companions, turning their runs into memorable experiences. Families and friends joined forces, creating teams enjoying each others company while contributing to a great cause. Regardless of whether participates hiked, ran, or simply walked - each step taken represented a commitment to making a difference.
Our colleagues Jonas, Caro and Mirka and their four-legged friend, Dolores, hiked 15 km (9 miles) up and down the Neroberg in Wiesbaden. It is famous for its historical water-powered train that takes you to the top of the mountain where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city (the entrance of the train is behind them).
Our colleague Jimena hiked an incredible 42.1 km (26 miles) over the four days of this charity event! She started off in Rampoldplatte-Hochsalwand, a mountain hiking trail, located in Bavaria. Over the next days, she conquered Pendling (mountain in Austria) and Wildalpjoch (mountain in Bavaria). If three mountains weren’t enough, she managed to run around Kloppenheim (an area in Wiesbaden)!
Locations Across Two Continents
Seibert Media's charity run unfolded simultaneously across multiple locations across the globe from Germany and Austria to the United States and Canada. In Germany, participants could be spotted dashing through cities, along country roads, over bridges, through forests, up mountains, on islands (you name it!) in Wiesbaden, Mainz, Rügen, etc. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, employees in the United States and Canada embarked on their own journeys in places like Pennslyvania, and the neighbourhoods of Vancouver. Despite the distance that separated them, every participant shared a common goal and a profound sense of unity.
Our colleagues Gianna and Daniel hiked 11.7 km (7.3 miles) in Erzberg, famous for a large open-pit mine in Austria.
Just Keep Running, Just Keep Running - Uniting Virtually
The charity run was originally organized as a local event, but with the onset of the global pandemic, it turned virtual. Check out our 2020, 2021 and 2022 virtual runs!
This time around Seibert Media continued to leveraged technology in order to organize and connect colleagues, both in Germany and abroad. Before starting the event, participants had the opportunity to share their running/hiking/walking goals (i.e. distance), and locations. After the event, participants could share their results such as distance covered and any photos taken along the way.
Our colleague Michael walked with his adorable four-legged friend, Mogli, 6.98 km (4.3 miles) in the Theißtal von Niedernhausen nature preserve.
The Impact
Seibert Media's charity run yielded a significant impact, both in terms of the funds raised and the sense of community it fostered. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, we raised 500, 750, and 300 euros respectively. This year, 32 Seibert Media employees ran, walked, and hiked 288 km (178 miles). By collecting 15 euros per participant, the company managed to generate 500 euros this year! (To those of you who wondered "but 15x32 is less than 500": you're right, but the company decided to round it up to a nice number!)
Beyond the financial contributions, the event brought Seibert Media's employees closer together, reinforcing their bonds and reinforcing the company's commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
Our colleague Tobias and his fluffy companion Annie at the famous Niederwald Monument in Rüdesheim, which is located within the Rhein Valley, a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Our colleague Jan ran 7.19 km (4.5 miles) in Biebrich, one of the most populous boroughs located in the south of the city center in Wiesbaden.
Last but not least - Thank you!
Seibert Media's charity run stands as a shining testament to the power of collective action and the incredible impact that a united community can achieve. We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who joined us in this event. Also, the deepest appreciation to our colleagues, at Seibert Media, whose dedication and enthusiasm brought this event to life. Cheers and until next time - 2024!
Our colleague Tanja, her friend Lara, and her lovely four-legged companion, Button, hiked 12.7 km (7.8 miles) in Großer Feldberg, the highest mountain of the Taunus mountain range located in southwestern Hessen.
Our colleagues Rebecca and Sabrina hiked and jogged approx.15 km (9.3 miles), the second trail of Kleiner Mainzer Höhenweg, a hiking area, in Mainz.
