AEC Linchpin: A behind the scenes look at our remote event

Last Thursday, March 19, 2020, we here at //SEIBERT/MEDIA were planning on holding our Atlassian Enterprise Club Day an in-person event in Wiesbaden, but the unexpected coronavirus pandemic has thrown us a curveball that we needed to adjust to. Rather than canceling the event, we converted it to a remote event. We live-streamed the event via our YouTube channel. After our live AEC show, several participants asked us about the technology that we used. We wanted to give everyone a more detailed look behind the scenes here in this article.

Expansion of //SEIBERT/MEDIA’s free community Wi-Fi infrastructure: More free Wi-Fi for the Wiesbaden city centre

Since September 2018, //SEIBERT/MEDIA has operated two WiFi access points for Freifunk Wiesbaden, enabling us to supply the Wiesbaden pedestrian zone at the corner of Luisen Street and Kirchgasse from the fifth floor of the Luisen Forum, where our offices are located. Over the winter, we can already report some remarkable successes: at peak times over 100 guests are logged onto our WiFi!

Working on the free community WiFi project during a hackathon

//SEIBERT/MEDIA has offices at several locations in Wiesbaden, the largest of them residing on the fifth floor of the Luisen Forum, a shopping center in the middle of the city. Around the building there is a wonderful roof terrace where you can relax, grill and look over Wiesbaden. We thought that the location would also be a good place to provide the surrounding pedestrian area with free Wi-Fi. Here at //SEIBERT/MEDIA we believe that people with access to more information will make better decisions and that such access ought to be free. Keeping this in mind, we have teamed up with Freifunk (“Free Radio”) Wiesbaden and installed a free Wi-Fi hotspot on our terrace for use in the surrounding pedestrian area.
